It's not the first slasher but it's definitely the blueprint if it wasn't for the thing this would be carpenter's magnum opus

A classic. The acting is kinda funny though.
While the Friday or Elm Street films are very silly and campy, Halloween has a bit of 70s realism. Michael is just a guy here. That’s scary.

The original Halloween is a really good low budget slasher. Although, the caracter of Lydia doesn't work for me at all.
