As visually inventive and creative as Kane or touch of evil but a hell of a lot more fun. Definitely one of the great film noirs.
Much like the rest of Welles' filmography, this film is technically and stylistically streets ahead of its time.
Orson Welles Second Masterpiece After Citizen Kane 10/10
This film is so ahead of it's time it's insane. An absolute essential film noir to watch.
Solid murder mystery with lovely performance by Rita Hayworth.
Not my favourite Welles film, but the last act is what makes this film great.
No the best Welles but has some memorable momenta.
The mirror scene is outstanding. Don’t ~love~ the Irish accent he does but he knows how to brilliantly weave a story of betrayal
A very solid noir, but that final scene is absolutely spectacular!
Despite its potential, the studio destroyed this film and it’s hardly watchable in my opinion. Welles’ performance and accent are awful.

An arrogant reporter exploits a story about a man trapped in a cave to revitalize his career.
New York City newspaper writer J.J. Hunsecker holds considerable sway over public opinion with his Broadway column, but one thing that he can't control is his younger sister, Susan, who is in a relationship with aspiring jazz guitarist Steve Dallas. Hunsecker strongly disapproves of the romance and recruits publicist Sidney Falco to find a way to split the couple, no matter how ruthless the method.
