Ace in the Hole
Drama • NR • 1951 • 1 hr 51 min
Great billy wilder film looking at the cynicism of journalism.
Billy Wilder was really ahead of his time with this one. Ace in the hole is today deservedly considered by many to be a masterpiece.
Classic black and white movie with a journalist. Douglas exhausts this role to every end and grows a conscious somewhere along the way.
Great original take on the noir genre. More so a character against himself, seeing how far he can take things just for ego.
A very cynical look at how the media can manipulate events.
Timeless story Wilder brings media villain whose heart softens. Kirk Douglas is great as his non-wholesome role.
Love the cynicism of this. Still hold true in many ways. It's not a criticism of the press like some think, but rather on human nature.
The subject matter it deals with feels ahead of its time and the performances sell the film well
Kirk Douglas rocking it for the fourth estate
Awesome story that’s still relevant to this day. Great acting and just a real solid watch overall
