A History of Violence
Drama • R • 2005 • 1 hr 36 min
I really like this movie, not sure why though.
This is literally Coen Brothers meets Sam Raimi. There are so many layers to the family dynamic here. Also the ending is breathtaking.
Viggo is amazing in this role. Dark and gritty with a good storyline that isn't cliche. Random fact, the last VHS ever made was this movie.
A thought provoking treatise on how violence can change a person and follow them their entire life. Expect nothing less from Cronenberg.
I really enjoy this movie about a man running from his past til one day some men show up to rob his store and his life is turned upside down
This is Cronenberg at his most adept, and Mortensen’s performance is one of real restraint, until it isn’t. Amazing film.
Very riveting movie. Suspenseful. Forgettable story though.
31/2* Dark, mystery thriller about bartender whose past catches up with him. Ed Harris & Bill Hurt play enigmatic, menacing mobsters.
Easy to follow plot, but still made me feel empty just like any other Cronenberg films
Great special effects and performance by Vigo Mortensen
