Cronenberg is one of the few who knows how to use realistic gore. There are flaws in the character's lines, but the direction makes up to it
A decent movie, with another great performance by Mortensen. The movie had a few unexpected twists, and i recommend it.
When the discussion of what is the best film adaptation of a comic book arises, A History of Violence should be the only option on the list.
This and Eastern Promises are the reason why Viggo Mortensen is badass.
Underrated film with amazing acting and editing.
Great film in all regards, dark and methodical. William Hurt steals the show with 5 min of screen time. Has the Oscar nomination to prove it
If Cronenberg's going for a stark satire of the modern American family & violence in this country: success. Formulaic dialogue was quite bad
A great crime drama with a great Viggo Mortensen performance. Not perfect, but definitely worth a watch for fans of the genre.
A good film that ends too soon and fails to explore in-depth some of the themes it introduces so we’re left a little unsatisfied. 7/10
While the plot may seem simplistic, there is nuance and depth to this film that is hard to grasp on the first watch.
Helms, Bello, and Mortensen give worthy performances, but the stilted dialogue and out-of-place score makes the film shmaltzy and uneven.
Viggo is excellent. Definitely worth your time to watch this one.
A compelling story about a man with a violent & complicated past. Well acted with some good action scenes.
Definitely a good movie but dialogue can be flat and falls short of Eastern Promises, the much better Cronenberg gangster flick.
Amazing violent movie with a nice plot. Totally enjoyable
A 90-minute troll where the cherry on top is an Oscar nomination for William Hurt. What?
A hell of a movie that not enough people know about
Fantastic adaptation of a graphic novel, one of the best in fact.
Must see. The comic book was amazing and the movie is somehow better. Mostly due to the Vigo Mortensen - Ed Harris chemistry.
Great performance by Viggo in an different crime drama movie. The son’s acting could have been better, still Definitely worth your time.
