Slow and contemplative, but oh so violent when it needs to be. Not a film for everybody, but definitely a unique experience
If you like bare boned gritty and raw content, you’ll enjoy this one.
A doom-filled medieval dream. It's almost purely driven by mood and atmosphere, so YMMV. My favourite of Refn's movies.
NWR never disappoints. Visceral and graphic violence sprinkled through a slow-burn story about aspirations and determination.
Refn drives the story with imagery as opposed to dialogue here. This movie is gritty and intense, not for everyone but I enjoy it.
This had potential to be awesome. It decided to be art house bullshit.
Visually amazing but light on story. The acting really carries you through the bleak, desolate landscape
Loved the complex plot and Mads as the star :)
I had high hopes going in, but it ended up being a chopped up tale with very little rewarding scenes.
Violent and poetic, though maybe a little too much for its own good at points. Worth a watch just for Mads performance.
I typically don't agree that Refn is style over substance, but I have to concede the point in regards to this film.
Great atmosphere and feel of anxiety during wathing. Very confusing story, a lot of symbolism and a lot to interprate by yourself.
Symbolic and dark journey. Not amazing but a very artistic take on vikings and religion.
an incredible film! the atmosphere, acting and cinematography are insanely good
Intriguing visuals and viseral violence but the story goes no where under the illusion that is is being thought provoking.
Vikings but it's the project of a sophomore film student.
All slow and symbolic. Still confused about it
Too artsy for its own good, but brutally gripping when it remembers it's actually trying to be a movie, not just a film.
Solid Viking action. If you enjoyed Vikings or The Last Kingdom then put this on your watchlist.
Lowkey pretentious and too inert to engage with it
