One of the best modern samurai movies. A family drama in a feudal japanese setting. A portrait of the failing samurai system.

This movie is slow-paced and doesn’t have much plot, but it somehow draws you in and keeps your attention until the end.

An accurate depiction of samurai life down to the swordwork and complex class dynamics. Hiroyuki Sananda’s movement and delivery are amazing
