A fever dream of a film where the narrative just keeps spiraling away but does not fall victim to too much dream logic becoming absurd
Another masterpiece by the creator of Citizen Kane. A strong adaptation of Kafka. Orson Welles considered the film his masterpiece.
Very good, dreamy, surreal and bureaucratic movie. I liked it as much as I liked the book it was adapted from.
I can't remember if I actually saw that or just dreamt it. It's a very taking movie with extravagant scenery and a master plot.
Dreamy, surreal and burocratic... kafkaesque is the word. I've never laughed at something that shook me at such a pshycological level.
Excellent surrealist and satirical film. Anthony Perkins’ performance and Welles’ direction are on point.
Slow but I didn’t get bored. A David Lynch film not directed by David Lynch and I enjoyed it. Anthony Perkins is underrated too.
Welles creates Kafkaesque world with immersive, deep range of focus to create huge empty bureacracy. Perkins at paranoid best. VR before VR.
Just as claustrophobic and dark as Kafka's book.
I should’ve expected oddities in the filmmaking when it said ORSON WELLES. What I never guessed was a total logic collapse after Scene 1.

Impoverished priest Harihar Ray, dreaming of a better life for himself and his family, leaves his rural Bengal village in search of work. Alone, his wife, Sarbojaya, looks after her rebellious daughter, Durga, and her young son, Apu, as well as Harihar's elderly aunt Indir. The children enjoy the small pleasures of their difficult life, while their parents suffer the daily indignities heaped upon them.
Art film producer Jeremy Prokosch, unhappy with the work of his director, hires Fritz Lang (as himself) to direct an adaptation of The Odyssey, but when it seems that the legendary filmmaker is making a picture destined to bomb, he brings in a screenwriter to energise the script.
