The unbearable sadness that takes me when I think about the sacrifice of all the crew of Stalker before this movie
The end of the world is a cool thing in movies. Aliens exploding Mt Rushmore or a tornado picking up the pyramids or whatever. Not true here
So beautifully haunting. A silent look inwards about the end of the world and what that would be like. Utterly fantastic Tarkovskys last win

A psychologist is sent to a space station orbiting a planet called Solaris to investigate the death of a doctor and the mental problems of cosmonauts on the station. He soon discovers that the water on the planet is a type of brain which brings out repressed memories and obsessions.
