Great mystery thriller movie from Hitchcock. Worth watching
What works: writing, directing, photography, atmosphere, acting - What doesn't: it's the 40s, some things have to be contextualized
Don’t expect the Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo Hitch here. Good film, but it’s not quite as interesting as what Hitchcock would eventually do
I would call this slick, brooding thriller culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.
Although it is not one of Hitchcock's best films, it is as suspenseful as any of the master's films and is worth watching. Good adaptation!
a.) forgot how hot L.O. was 🥵 b.) genuinely couldn’t tell where it was going c.) set and scenery are gorgeous
One of my favorite Hitch films, gothic romance and tense atmosphere turn the film into an interesting exploration of the plight of women
Fun fact: Out of the 50+ films Hitchcock has directed, this is the only one to win an Oscar for Best Picture.
Not the Classic intriiguing Hitchcock's film but still a good yellow/romantic story
I don't know the book, but this classic Hitchcock gem is capturing, suspenseful and amazingly played
