Was a good movie, but NOT a feel good movie. The ending took an awful turn. Not the ending I wanted, but this plot was once a reality.
This was dark and really well done. Enjoyed this film a lot.
Thought of it as a realistic take on rural Mississippi in the 1940s’. Great take, though.
Another slow burn. Survival comes at a heavy cost, down south after WWII. Poverty and the KKK are just some of what 2 families face.

Beautifully photographed and powerfully acted, but voiceover narration is a pet peeve of mine, and here it kept me at an emotional distance.
