Poignant, compelling story that holds up even sixty years later
Tackles racial issues in a mature way through the lead characters and their relationships. Both Poitier and Steiger command the screen.
Great performances. Contains the slap that was heard around the world.
Not usually a fan of "older" movies but loved this one.
Has cult status for a reason - more than that slap, excellent direction and fantastic character. You really do feel the heat of this night.
