Wonderful real time story about personal courage. Subtext was actors alone fighting the “communist sympathizer”blacklist.
Big drama in a small town. It's old fashioned but always feels relevant.
Metaphor of McCarthy era Cooper as determined sheriff as desperados come to town. Somber, tense. Spare dialogue. True Hollywood art.

Questions arise when Senator Stoddard attends the funeral of a local man named Tom Doniphon in a small Western town.
