My only real complaint about this movie is that Kenneth Branagh was a 36 year old playing a 16 year old.

Don’t be put off by the 4 hour runtime. This is the greatest Shakespeare adaptation ever because it treats its source material with respect.

Shakespeare purists might complain, but this is a lavish production, uncut, well acted. You need to know the play to last 220 minutes.

This “every single line” version is opulent and a bit of a mess, but it was the first I ever saw and I still adore it.

Prepare yourself for a masterpiece. Branagh gives an amazing performance, as does most of the cast. This Hamlet is the gold standard!

The play is fantastic enough that adapting it word for word allows for Branagh to overcome his major directing limitations.

This movie is astonishing considering the somewhat low budget. Again, the play slaps and so did the movie. This is a personal favourite

Long, but the best acted and shot hamlet film possibly ever. The best Shakespeare movie. Brilliant film.

Branagh at it again with the most loyal and IMO best Hamlet adaptations. For lovers of shakespear this is a delight.

A good, straightforward screen adaptation of the Shakespeare classic.
