This is worth watching because of the history being told
It's hard to deny the effort by all involved. I feel the film's grit was softened a bit by Hollywood tropes. But there's merit to the style.
Denzel killed it as Frank Lucas. Hands down one of my favorite performances by him! Had me rooting for the bad guy from start to finish!
Didn't think it was going to be able to compete with the usual directors of this genre but it bangs. Denzel, Crowe and Brolin are amazing

Based on a true story and a real Frank Lucas, American Gangster really portrays NYC's culture during that time period. Fantastic film.
