User Reviews
Unfairly maligned by many, but a sincere, earnest, and far more faithful take on the Stephen King classic
A decent, limited series format of "The Shining." De Mornay is superb, but her counterpart just isn't the same caliber.
An inferior film to Kubrick's. This is a rare example how being book accurate isnt always best. It lacks in acting, chemistry, & atmosphere
Struggles to capture the horror of the book and movie. Some scenes work, but it mostly falls flat.
I can't understand why they thought this adaptation was necessary. Maybe faithful to the book, but scary just because of how bad it is.
If only it wasn't hampered by having to be rated for TV, it could've been great. Steven Weber nails the warring conscience of Jack Torrance
It’s Stephen King’s Shining, not Kubrick’s. While I liked the greater depth and detail, it doesn’t beat the film.
It’s more faithful to the book, but no faithful adaptation can top the vision of Stanley Kubrick.
A decent retelling of the book. But has lost some of the suspense and all the terror in visual format
A slower take on the Stephen King book. That’s more faithful to it.
