Wonderful development of characters. Nuanced, and to my eye, realistic depiction of Rome in the day. Re-watched in memory of Ray Stevenson.
I wish they had made more seasons of this.
Amazing show. Authentic view of Rome, with the story of two legionnaires mingled with the historical events of the fall of the Republic.
Great show, does a great job using historical references along with the fictional aspects. Mostly great acting too. Highly recommend.
In addition to believable depiction of ancient times, this is peak HBO prestige television.
Too much attention is paid to insignificant love intrigues, while important historical events are pushed into the background.
Authenticity colors history in this unmatched epic vision of western cultures’ origins; ensemble cast + cinematic grandiosity; a masterpiece
Good show somwhere between the historically accurate and the complete bullshit. But really entertaining with strong plot and characters.
Plotting and political suspense at its best! The acting, the setting, the writing, it all adds up to create a stellar tv show!
Accessible docudrama on Rome. Easy watching and entertaining and high production value. Strongly recommend
