Like all Hanke films, it is sad, hard, painful and memorable. The psychology of the characters is very precise. Not recommended for everyone
Disturbing, brilliant exploration of power dynamics
This film is unique in as much of the reactions it provokes
There's a subtle, pit in your stomach, intensity captured with brilliant acting and directing.
Haneke's best use of sound. Meditative brutality.
Terrifyingly dark from opening to closing. Isabelle Huppert is riveting. While I think this lacks subtlety and control, it is horrifying.
This was.. riveting. I have no words and so many; such a debauched emptiness derived from repression with perverse, moving responses.
One of Haneke's finest movies. Cinema at it's best.
A twisted journey into loneliness. The character's relationship with her admirer goes from a warped power exchange to something much worse.
One of the most fucked up movies I've ever seen with extremely disturbing scenes which make you uncomfortable to your core
This is a penetrating, deeply disturbing examination of desire and loneliness, of desperation and self-denial.
Psychologically accurate characters who will make you think. Great.
French film based on a controversial novel. Definitely a journey. I suggest going in blind and definitely alone.
Slow, dark, brutally disturbing. Toxic characters lusting at each other in between chews of scenery.
One of the best films ever made by the best director ever. 10/10
Sadistic slow burn. Truly insane character work and an oppressive atmosphere make for an awe inspiring watch.
Yet another film that I have to reconsider before recommending.
The first one i saw from Haneke and i felt physically sick by how raw and twisted it was. It oponed my eyes to how impactfull a movie can be
It's a very interesting story, well acted and written psychosexual drama. I really like how it touches on loneliness and sexual desire.
A twisted study of power and psychosexual dynamics. Very Freudian.
