Synecdoche, New York
Drama • R • 2008 • 2 hr 4 min
Too slow for my tastes. It's on the lower end of "good" rating.
What a psychological gut punch, this one will stay with me for the rest of my life. It's a tragic, comic, surreal and grandiose mind trip.
Pretty much floored by how incredible this film is. Depressing and confusing as hell but that is somewhat the point. A re-watch for sure
First watch was literally traumatizing, second one kinda inspiring and oddly soothing
I trust Kaufman to create chaos for good reason.idk the reason this time. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Kaufman mysteriouser.
The movie is just like life. Long, confusing, meaningless yet short, beautiful and meaningful
I can't put into words how existential & beautiful this film is. Need to watch multiple times to grasp everything, but it's a real trip.
This brilliant work of cinema unfortunately requires research to understand even slightly. Try not to hate it too much at first like I did.
-"Why cant i find someone like you?" -"I am someone like me!" -"Well not you!"
A well acted out boring play imo. Definitely was sad and stuff but nothing crazily innovative that I'd say makes it worthwhile.

Nicolas Cage is Charlie Kaufman, a confused L.A. screenwriter overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy, sexual frustration, self-loathing, and by the screenwriting ambitions of his freeloading twin brother Donald.
