Maverick Navy Lieutenant Commander Tom Dodge will never be a textbook officer, but he's a brilliant seaman who's always wanted to command a nuclear submarine — he's been given one last chance to clean up his record. Unfortunately, Admiral Graham, his nemesis, would rather sink the fleet than give Dodge his own boat. So, Graham stacks the deck against him and assigns Dodge to the Stingray, a diesel-powered WW2 submarine that can barely keep afloat. To make matters worse, Dodge's crew is a collection of maladjusted, mistake-prone misfits. Then, he's tagged the "enemy" in a crucial war game, and ordered to take on the U.S. Navy's best.

Under-rated historical archive footage of the USS stingray and her crew! Amazing! 10/10 with rice!

This is a silly movie. The premise is absurd, the characters are ridiculous, but it is fun. Basically “Hot Shots” on a sub. But better.

Very silly, but surprisingly rewatchable. May be the only time you'll enjoy seeing Rob Schneider overact.

Rare Kelsey Grammer comedy film that delights & makes most audiences giggle. Cool plot, good cast.

This movie is silly, in the best way. I enjoy this a couple of times a year.

Overall, the humor is mid. But on the bright side, it’s a glimpse into pre-911 America, when military service wasn’t taken so seriously.

Borderline OK and good, but Kelsey Grammer and Lauren Holly put it over the top.

Totally bland 90s comedy. Totally not good. Maybe if you're younger it's funny.

Funny at times, boring at others. It's worth a watch as a time waste, not much more
