The Twelve - Behind the Scenes

Behind the facade of their anonymity, these twelve ordinary people bring with them their own histories. Lives that are as complex as the trial, full of fractured dreams, shameful secrets, hope, fears, personal trauma, and prejudice.

Episode 1

Detective Sam Chedid takes the stand as various pieces of evidence are introduced to the court, some of which raise questions about Nathan Spears' involvement.

Episode 2

The Crown calls Claire's best friend, Amita, to the stand. As the trial gets more complex, so too does the jury room dynamics, as their personal lives become increasingly entangled.

Episode 3

Kate Lawson's provocative artwork takes centre stage in the courtroom. The Crown raises questions around her artistic methods, as well as revealing a complicated mental health diagnosis.

Episode 4

Claire's father, Nathan Spears, takes the stand. He paints Kate as a sexual predator who groomed Claire, but reveals his temper when Colby gets under his skin.

Episode 5

The jurors are taken to Kate's house to observe a demonstration of the Crown's case theory, before Kate's brother, Robbie, takes the stand.

Episode 6

Claire's mother, Diane, takes the stand. In support of her sister, Kate, she throws suspicion onto Nathan as she further reveals the tumultuous relationship between him and Claire.

Episode 7

When Claire’s boarding school mistress, Fiona, takes the stand, a shock revelation changes the course of the trial. Jury room dynamics are tested as tensions reach boiling point.

Episode 8

When Nathan lies under oath, an enraged Kate refuses Colby’s advice not to testify but will the secret between Kate and her sister explode under the pressure of the revelations?

Episode 9

The jury is sequestered after the full story of Kate Lawson's connection to a historical crime is revealed; the jury's verdict is finally handed down after intense and emotional deliberations.

Episode 10

Co-accused ex-lovers stand trial for the murder of wealthy farmer, Bernice Price. But can the twelve jurors really be impartial when they come from a tight rural community where everyone know everyone?

The prosecution presents the jury with a convincing motivation for murder.

Colby throws suspicion onto two prosecution witnesses. Pressure mounts for Meredith when her husband unexpectedly shows up at court.

New details come to light during three witness testimonies, while Colby gets creative in undermining the prosecution's theory. Meanwhile, things go from bad to worse for Joey.

It's Meredith’s turn to present her case but things are not looking good for the defence, until Colby finds some new evidence that could turn things around.

Colby convinces Patrick to stay the course, promising his new evidence will strengthen their case, but Meredith’s decision to put Sasha on the stand may change the trial entirely.

Meredith’s decision to put Sasha on the stand backfires when Colby delivers some damning evidence, leaving the Jury shellshocked and ready to make some big life decisions.

After heated deliberations, the jury finally reach a verdict.

A cold case from 1968 is re-opened for jury consideration when a man is charged with the murder of a woman who was researching the case for a true crime novel.

Colby has his work cut out when the wife of the accused and the ex-partner of the victim recount the events leading to Amanda Taylor’s murder.

As the trial continues, a series of experts bring the grisly details of Amanda’s murder into sharper focus, while Colby continues to hunt for the mysterious new witness.

Colby goes head-to-head with veteran cop Bob Stephenson, who is convinced Alan is guilty of the cold case he’s spent a lifetime investigating. Has Colby met his match?

On the first day of the Defence case, Colby pokes holes in the Prosecution’s theory against Alan and is buoyed by a breakthrough in the search for the mysterious ‘John’.

Tensions rise in and outside the court and the jury room, as Nicholls manipulates a friend of the victim and complications gain momentum in the jurors’ personal lives.

As Colby presents a crime writer as a possible suspect in Amanda’s murder, the pressure begins to take its toll on everyone, and the jury explodes.

It’s crunch time for Colby, who is faced with a dilemma of conscience and ethics, as he puts together the truth… but will he learn the whole truth?
