Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?

Different from other Isekai but in a good way

Loved it, super cool. Can't recommend more. The story is great and the pace is just right. I'm excited for the next season.

The best anime I've ever watched the plot is so captivating and entertaining and the animation is amazing

This is a show that starts off very strong, but quickly becomes mediocre and cliché, it couldn’t stick to what made it interesting. A shame

I guess people enjoy these kinds of shows? They all start off unique but quickly become the exact same thing a few episodes in.

Ew ew ew main character keeps slaves and this show sexualizes children SO NOT WORTH IT

What's more shocking is that she discovers that ten years later, Kakeru will no longer be with them. Future Naho asks her to watch over him closely.
