User Reviews
Great miniseries documentary. The peak of Ken Burns.
Ken Burns’ documentary is the definitive work on the American Civil War.
Educational. What population wouldn't love automatic weapons after a traumatic history of making mince meat out of each other.
Strength of this series is structure & production values. Seamless montage of voiceover, image, song, sound effects, music, pacing: CRAFT.
Great documentary. Informative and emotional.
It’s entertaining but overrated from a historical view as it gives too much credence to “the lost cause”
Another attempt to capture the glory and the savagery of the US Civil War... ruined by pro-Southern apologia.
The first great long-form documentary by Ken Burns that sets the tone for his entire career and filmography
Paints a vivid picture of the humanity of Civil War figures and the war’s impact. Also highlights the most important details for historians.
A highlight of my high school history class
