31/2*Anthology series of 5 stories about director:s experience growing up in W. Indian part of London. Quasi-doc style is convincing & real
Centered around the reggae music and racial strife era in the UK, the title refers to Bob Marley’s song small axe, ie taking down a giant
Relatively consistent. Lover’s Rock is the only really rewatchable one, but they’re all at least pretty good.
Great series which highlights West Indians in Britain and talks about Britain’s past of racial discrimination
Incredible anthology about a topic that is not discussed enough: British racism. Steve McQueen has outdone himself again.
Every episode is special, but I love Lovers Rock the most. Idk how Steve McQueen managed to cover so many issues in 68 minutes. Brilliant.
They’re all worth watching, however Lovers Rock and Education - the two films not beholden by depicting true events - hit a special chord.
Great show
