Raised from birth as a man, the Lady Oscar commands the palace guards at Versailles in the years before the French Revolution. Her beauty and noble spirit make her a shining figure in the eyes of both men and women but she is torn between her chosen life of service and duty to class and country and her own heart and desires. She lives as a noble amidst the opulence of Versailles but her keen senses and compassion are not blinded to the poverty of the French people.

Brilliant historical fiction anime. Oscar is a jewel of a human being.

This anime got me into anime. It may seem a little old but it pioneered in many things.

Many characters were obviously improperly developed and it's over-dramatic at some points. But despite that, it's also amazing and epic.

I grew up wanting to be Lady Oscar, dreaming of having her cool, grace and strength. It's an old heartbreaking anime, a historical retelling

A classic old school anime that somehow hasn't got old.

Anime doesn't get more refined than this. It's a deeply human story; about identity, and opulence, and love, and politics. Give it a chance.

Really wonderful series and was my go to anime everytime I had an exam about the French Revolution. It tells all info while being a fiction

Incredible historical fiction anime. Oscar’s story is so compelling and it’s a great intro to learn about the French Revolution
