Promoted to lead anchor of a struggling news program, a journalist pushes the boundaries to investigate and expose truths others want buried.

Soichi Shindo has been appointed as the new anchor of the night news program "Newsgate" on the commercial TV station JBN. "Newsgate" is a flagship program with a 40-year history, but in recent years its viewer ratings have been sluggish. In an effort to turn things around, JBN's Chairman Sadao Kunisada lured him away from the public broadcasting station. On his first day in office, Shindo tells the staff, "I'm here to fix this program." Sakikubo Hana, who has just been selected as the program's general director, is caught between Shindo and the veteran staff , declaring one unconventional style after another.
