Alice, the only relatively normal member of the eccentric Sycamore family, falls in love with Tony Kirby, but his wealthy banker father and snobbish mother strongly disapprove of the match. When the Kirbys are invited to dinner to become better acquainted with their future in-laws, things don't turn out the way Alice had hoped.

An early critique of capitalism sees the energetic, wacky cast go all out. All leads shine in this stacked ensemble, especially Barrymore.
Capra evaluates the place of finances and genuine relationships in the life of an individual, using the lens of humor as his tool.
Hilarious, wonderful and ecentric movie. Truely a perfect classic movie for the whole family.
Lightweight Capra film about the meeting of the rich and poor families of a young couple. The issues are timeless. Stewart always engages.
Less odd than Arsenic and Old Lace, but only just. Romance takes a back seat to obliquely communicated critique of capitalism. Not bad.
If you haven’t seen every Capra film, you should. This is one of his best as well.
Possibly the best early rom-com? High on the list of what I would recommend to someone that thinks they don’t like old black & white movies.
Great for the family, I have a great time
Very slow older drama. Very of its time.
Hardly the best work anyone involved has done. It’s theme is overbearing to where it doesn’t quite work. It’s entertaining enough though.
