Vincent Price is delightfully devilish, but the real stars were the NPC’s who’d show up every other scene to sell horses or give directions.
Solid low budget English film. I found it as part of a 'folk horror' binge but I'd classify it more as a period thriller.
Price is at his best. Matthew Hopkins is so wretched you may find yourself screaming "You took him from me!" by the end.
Christianity is just the 3 spidermen pointing accusingly at each other.
I’m sure this was daring for the time, but it amounted to too much screaming and too little reason to care. Boobs aplenty, though!
I may need to watch this with older eyes, but I found this thing bizarre as a teen.
Price plays extremely moralistic witch finder. He then has to face revenging on his self.
Gorgeous and atrocious — never lets up or leans into camp, leaving you both riveted and horrified by the film’s end.
Horrific at times, humorous and ironic at others. Everything feels authentic, frighteningly so.
