Worth watching since it’s Scorsese’s first attempt at a movie. Many of the styles and techniques he uses later started here.
Watched in my quest to finish Scorsese’s filmography. Nothing stuck with me
I went of my way to watch Scorsese’s directieal debut film and I was not disappointed.
Great insight into early Scorsese. There's an excellent scene where the main character talks about the searcher's. Brilliant!
Scorsese’s debut is one of the finest directorial debuts I’ve ever seen.
Strongly influenced by European cinema. Effectively shows the struggle between the pleasures of childhood and the reality of adulthood.
Great early Scorsese film. Angsty with lots of Catholic grappling. Very lengthy sex scenes which apparently was intended as a selling point.
Scorsese’s feature debut is very unique and interesting. Although it’s best watched as a film relic for Scorsese fans rather than a movie.
A great start for Scorsese. Definitely not as good as some of his works that followed this, but an interesting, intelligent start.
Marty's directorial debut is one of excellence and tense.
