This was the only Oscar-nominated film I saw that year.
Society damaged the soul of N. Simone as she demanded to be respected for her talent. If you get that, whether the film is 'good' is minor.
Her daughter was involved with this project, and it shows. Beautiful but full portrait of a talented yet tortured soul. A legend, really.
Documentary about the life of Nina Simone. Immensely talented and uncompromising. Great film.
