Satiric view of modern middle class European life influenced by American culture. Hence that title. Similar to Bunuel's satires.
Sometimes brilliantly funny, sometimes mind numbingly dull; Weekend sends up art films, bit not without falling into the same trappings.
There’s a lot this sharp satire is saying & most of it hits. But feels like this movie goes off the rails at the end & just can’t land.
Absolutely wild, provocative, political and cinematic - Godard’s best!
It’s so weird, you would be amazed! Love the ideas behind
Godard's weirdest and darkest. Depicting the tragedies of war by showing it's actions done by civilized people to each other.
A classic but slow, watch it if you want to learn about French cinema
Decent Godard is still better than most other directors great work. Good story, great style, fans of Godard will love it.
You’re enjoyment of this film will be completely dependent on what sense you make of it. I preferred the first half to the second.
Godard at his weirdest. This film seems to have no real purpose but to show you one weird weekend. It was weird as shit
