Shockingly gruesome Shakespeare play is brought to life with all its excesses by avid experimenter Julie Taymor. Great staging and acting!
Taymor takes full advantage of translating her interpretation to film. One of the few Shakespearean adaptations that understands the source.
The best Shakespeare film adaptation I’ve seen, from the play known as his worst. Don’t watch if you can’t understand Old English
One of my favorite Shakespeare film adaptations. This is really bizarre shit but it works for the most part.
Post-modern Shakespeare of the Bard's bloodiest play. Hopkins is terrific. Taymar keeps the language intact while pushing production values.
Jessica Lange and Anthony Hopkins are incredible in this. My favorite Shakespeare experience out of all books/plays/movies I’ve seen (a lot)
Beautiful and strange. The performances will captivate you.
A wonderful anachronistic adaptation. Very good
This film is a strange, unsettling, and highly artistic adaption of the Shakespearean play. As much as I disliked it, I couldn’t look away.
An impressive feat in creativity and adaptation, but too stuck in the 90's, which might deter some and drown the aforementioned aspects.
