A bleak but powerful film shows a compelling cast in a gruesome dance marathon that will have you shouting “Yowzah, yowzah, yowzah!”
I wouldn't say it's a *sad* film, but it's a really bleak and powerful portrayal of desperation and exploitation.
terrific performances by young and fonda in this incredibly bleak takedown of the american dream and the ways we are broken by it
A sad tale about desperate people in the depression trying to win a few hundred dollars by dancing the longest without collapsing.
A compelling, thrilling, and horrifying portrait of Depression era America that will unlikely ever be matched
Experience it for its critical stir it made as the 60s ended with a whimper. Compare to class exploitation themes of Parasite, Gamer, etc
One of the more devastating films. Very good but will leave you feeling depressed.
Very good. Very, VERY sad! Jane Fonda is a lot more than her father's pretty daughter.
Pollack’s psychotic disco drama is one of the more purely substantive critiques on the American Dream and all its promised platitudes.
Firstly, the sets are insanely gorgeous. Like man, they’re spectacular. This is also just a damn good movie. A must watch
