A Harvard anthropologist is sent to Haiti to retrieve a strange powder that is said to have the power to bring human beings back from the dead. In his quest to find the miracle drug, the cynical scientist enters the rarely seen netherworld of walking zombies, blood rites and ancient curses. Based on the true life experiences of Wade Davis and filmed on location in Haiti, it's a frightening excursion into black magic and the supernatural.

Wes Craven brought zombies back to their voodoo origins and it's great. The visuals, the atmosphere, the upmost brutality. Classic Craven.
Definitely the best wes craven movie ever, the characters are all more regular citizen and the narrative is good, definitely recommend
Bizarre yet awesome voodoo horror flick.
A few phobias might surface while watching this amazing voodoo-filled ordeal.
This is a very interesting movie and a highly underrated 80s horror movie. Also based on a true story. Twisted, fascinating movie. Watch
A film about what existed before the Romero's zombie. Interesting but not great
Enjoyably offbeat zombie horror w/ a dark take on adventure serials, not particularly scary but suitably creepy, definitely worth watching
It was a pretty good movie. Got me wondering what was going to happen next. Neat that it’s loosely based off a real situation.
Pretty good effects and atmosphere but the story is just not my thing.
The thought of this happening is so terrifying. A Wes Craven gem that’s not NoES. I don’t like how they portray Haitians, but great movie.
