This Surrealist film, with a title referencing the Communist Manifesto, strings together short incidents based on the life of director Luis Buñuel. Presented as chance encounters, these loosely related, intersecting situations, all without a consistent protagonist, reach from the 19th century to the 1970s. Touching briefly on subjects such as execution, pedophilia, incest, and sex, the film features an array of characters, including a sick father and incompetent police officers.

Stream of consciousness satire from the great Luis Bunuel. I can see why he’s considered one of the French greats
Bunuel doing his thing, and it is marvelous. Absurdity up the wazoo
A weird art movie, which i didnt get always unfortunatly
Really great movie for creative ones, that stuck with their projects
Buñuel takes his surrealist mockery to a new level as he spins his wheel and spits on anything it lands on. A true comedic hate of all
I was disappointed in the lack of Monica Vitti. It was a good, but sometimes clunky, surreal film.
Bunuel made too many films for me to write him off after only seeing two but uuuughhh his surreal satire work just bounces right off me.
I went in expecting an art house film, but it’s actually quite silly for all the acclaim and prestige that comes with Buñuel’s name.
The most surrealism an artist could achieve luis has achieved in this film.
In this surrealist film everything seems to be the opposite? Or is it? Pushes the viewer to rethink how they see things in society.
