My face the entire time watching this was like that meme of Michael Scott grimacing from The Office.
Beautifully shot and well acted, it evolves into a slow, subtle dissonance.
Not what I expected. You will likely be filled with unease and discomfort for the duration of the film.
Very good movie! Makes you feel uneasy, but you also understand the characters POV.
Gylenhaal shows vs. tells. Scene after scene is expertly framed: the jungle gym shot that doesn't pan from the ground. Conversation fuel.
This movie was kind of weird but it really had me emotionally involved.
A story about the quiet despair and anguish felt when mediocrity encounters raw talent. Gyllenhaal is outstanding and woefully sympathetic.

Such an interesting story. I’m not sure how I feel about it honestly but I thought Maggie did great.
