So genuine and raw that it feels impossible not to love. Has this rare ability to elicit real laughs and tears only moments apart. Bravo.
Understood the assignment: be a quaint little New England film
I really felt like I was in the 1970’s watching this movie. Paul Giamatti steals the show, beautifully written and acted dramedy.
Perhaps the most relatable Holiday movie I have ever seen. Also, my favorite Paul Giamatti performance.
A film about class and race grief and resentment, opportunity and entitlement. We need human stories on screen.Giamatti at his very best.
A Christmas Dramady with humor, life messages & heart plus great 1970s setting, the performance are amazing from Giamatti, Sessa & Randolph.
For being a smaller film, the technical side ironically is what’s excellent. The 70s New England world-building by Payne is set beautifully.
Starts off feeling very well worn, if beautifully shot. But as it adds layers it manages to find its way to earnest, earned sentiment.
This movie felt like a warm hug. Had me laughing and crying. I will be going back to this movie.
Interesting look into the lives of those in a boarding school for high school. Great dialog throughout.
