Classic 70s crime drama. Seems to be getting a second appreciation that is well deserved.
This is one of the best of the decade. If you love the town or point break this is the origin of movies like these.
I enjoyed this film. Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle's performances. I'll give it number four Bobby Orr out of four.
A great film. Robert Mitchum gives one of his best performances, and the screenplay and direction are taut and tense,
Good movie for the time period. Somewhat dated but that’s to be expected.
Decent enough crime heist thriller. Mitchum gives a good performance. A tad forgettable tho
Mitchem cast against type didn’t fully work for me, mainly a script issue. Other than the casual use of the N word a few times, a good film.
I saw this on TV when I was young and I was riveted. A real hidden gem. Above average heist film.
Made during era when actors could play sleazy mobsters with perfection. Doubtful if that could happen now. They've become too middle class.
Nice dialogues and acting. The story seemed pretty flat to me.
Dialogue is good. So is the cinematography. The story is average to poorly executed
Tarantino-esc film. Very well written dialogue and superb scenes filled with tension, I found it all enjoyable until the finale. Predicted.
A strong late-career performance from Robert Mitchum elevates a solid crime drama.
How sudden the end was really made the movie for me I had to rewatch it multiple times just to COMPREHEND the movie had ended
Mitchum is especially good cast against type as a small time gunrunner who’s desperate to stay out of jail.
