Good watch. Robinson is the real star here! Very enjoyable - happy with the ending. Modern films can learn a lesson from it

This fine film chronicles a tense dramatic marathon game of poker between a rising young star and a cagey old pro. A classic worth a watch.

This is basically McQueen doing The Hustler, only in Poker. And the ending is very unexpected. The 1930s New Orleans setting is a character.

Great set-up, but fails to reach into the depths of the story, themes, and characters. Great editing and a strong performance from Robinson.
