Inspiration for the Soprano's. Unique for Kurosawa as he deals with post-war Japan by adapting Hamlet to a genre new to him (noir).
Completely different than anything else I’ve seen of Kurosawa’s. It’s a great watch!
A brilliant re-imagining of Hamlet set to a noir tone; with an emphasys placed on corporate corruption, as well as morality and dedication.
Corporate corruption, revenge, and Toshiro Mifune looking perpetually one bad day away from committing another felony. Peak cinema.
Cynical, but masterfully so. Contemporaneous Kurosawa hits different.
Hella underrated. A dark plot which plays with the idea of how evil you’re willing to be stop evil. Kurosawa smashes it once again. 9/10
