John Ford directs. John Wayne stars. 'Nuff said. This is absolutely mandatory if you call yourself a western fan.
A more sensitive and reserved performance from Wayne than usual. A film filled with character. Ford indulges in sentimentality a bit.
Not one of John Wayne’s best. Weird plot with caricatures of women more than fleshed out characters.
A good cavalry Western with John Wayne. Plot is a little weak in some places.

Old school. My grandfathers favourite film. Aged and conventional.
Saw it in the old Stanford theater. On the way out, a man who had to have been 90 years old said "That was a miserable two hours." Well put.
Classic western. One of his more memorable movies.
