In 1968, engineer Giorgio Rosa established the independent state called "The Isle of Roses" off the coast of Rimini, built on a platform outside the territorial waters, with Esperanto as the official language. The Italian authorities did not take it well because the micronation was seen as an expedient to not pay taxes on the revenues obtained thanks to the arrival of numerous tourists and curious people.

It reminds me a bit of an italian version of a Wes Anderson's movie, but it's less slow. The protagonist is a true dreamer, loved this movie

i agree w whoever said it ronda them of an italian wes anderson movie but faster. im italian and this story was new to me. liked the humor

lost interest halfway through, the pacing sucks, the story is really forgettable, characters have no depth. you don't get hooked at all

Takes a while to get into but it’s a really interesting story.

It took a while to get into it. In fact I kept turning it off. Eventually (when they started building island) it got good.
