User Reviews

The best film adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s best works.

A slog (mostly during the wide middle portion). I was inspired during the beginning but got burnt out. 2.5 out of 5.

Brandon O’Dell

It’s Olivier doing Shakespeare. He’s good at it. But there are better versions of this play available to watch.

It’s hard to understand why Shakespeare matters until you see it performed. The Duke Gloucester is cunning, but perhaps unfairly portrayed

Better than most of the other crap I was forced to read then watch in English class. Olivier's performance always stuck with me.

Looks cheap and the story, though sordid, comes off as flat. About as effective as a high school play.

Olivier directs and acts, but his presence is too much. The royal court is sumptuous, though. The story is well done.

Powerful story and extra great performance
