Rough start, 1hr later u realize it's 1 of the best cop films ever. True story. Companion to & better than The French Connection & Serpico.
Complex & long about corrupt NY cops. Broader than Serpico. So many roles, film couldn't do them justice. A good Lumet film is a great film.
Has the tendency to be fairly melodramatic at points, but overall a very gripping drama that earns its 3 Hour runtime. Jerry Orbach is great
Not sure how Lumet went Serpico to this stinker.A full hour should have been cut from this. A lot of the acting is shockingly bad.
