David Lean not only does a great job of depicting 19th century London. The film is made to feel as though it were made in the 19th century.
Probably the best version of the Dickens classic. A good companion should you read the novel.
Some over the top performances, but overall a well rounded story thanks once again to Dickens' characters and Alec Guinness' Fagin.
The noire framing of the whole movie makes it a compelling watch.
Feels the same as when I was forced to read the book in high school
For an old film, I thought the pacing was quite good. I'm not sure if I prefer this version or the musical version.
