Was never too crazy about Breathless, but I definitely appreciate it a bit more now. Very witty and engaging dialogue throughout.
If you don't know the history of nouvelle vague cinema, you may not relate. But Linklater doesn't just reproduce it, he channels it.
A movie about making movies. What inspires the creative mind? Is it spontaneity, hard work or something in between. Based on a true story?
Phenomenal in every way. The acting nails their real life counterparts, the story pulls you in and never lets up.
If you intend to see Breathless, watch it first since this is spoiler-ish. I don’t think you have to be a New Wave expert to enjoy though!
Smart, alive, and playful. Hits even harder if you know Breathless
Breathless is such a classic that I’m fine with it having an average tribute act. Couldn’t imagine being around Godard longer than 20 days.
