Murder by Contract

I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this film. Nothing complicated for plot, simple with beautiful music!

The simplicity of the production vs the melodrama is fun; it’s almost camp. The story’s not great, but it is what it was intended to be.

The best Jean-Pierre Melville that Melville. Lean, taut, and brutally efficient it just oozes a cool, menacing quality.
