Unfairly maligned because it’s messy presentation. A really human story and a fun watch, but still a huge mess
Lots of interesting ideas in a very forgettable film
Based on novel by James McBride. Black soldiers in WWII Too much rambling. Unfocused story.
Bummer no walked on water turned water to wine or parted sea, mid level miracle at st Anna
It's an interesting story, but the village interactions are super weird, and the framing device doesn't totally work. It's just not great.
Really cool concepts, but it’s incredibly long and kind of confusing.
A terrible Spike Lee joint, an interesting story that some how comes out a boring watch.
Definitely not Spike Lee's best work and a bit of a disappointment with the long run time. It still kind of grew on me after a bit though.
Really bad movie that beats you over the head about how whites in the 1940s were bad. No subtlety at at all.
Real cheesey and cliche. Expected better from spike lee
