Follows the fate of Lyle, a violent adolescent who, in lieu of prison, is placed in a juvenile mental institution, where he encounters a group of equally troubled teens. This motley crew—abused, sexually confused, violent, and yet hanging on by their grit and anger—becomes Lyle's last lifeline as he fights to find meaning in a world that seems to defy understanding.

This movie had me on the verge of tears as someone who doesn’t cry at movies. It was so well acted and the climax left me in shock.
This is my favorite movie of all time. Amazing acting from everyone involved. JGL is awesome in this movie.
It is intense, realistic, and well-acted. I think it started Joseph Gordon-Levitt's career as a more serious actor.
Interesting film about the mental illness in adolescents. Some topics are covered very above. 8/10.
3.3 most people would like it so do recommend
All the acting was terrific in this film I just wasn’t a fan of the “documentary” style of filming. It was too shaky and didn’t add value.
The acting was incredible and filled with much intensity. I loved the camera work and the emotional storyline
My tears couldn’t stop running by the end of the film. Such a beautiful, raw, powerful message of the film. Truly recommending it to anybody
A weird trip through the mind of a sick man, JGL was great, the movie was not.
Such a deep movie, as someone who has gone to the psych ward before it was pretty accurate and I personally loved it. 10/10 would recommend
