While exploring the neighboring woods, 13-year-old John discovers an unfinished bunker — a deep hole in the ground. Seemingly without provocation, he drugs his affluent parents and older sister and drags their unconscious bodies into the bunker, where he holds them captive. As they anxiously wait for John to free them from the hole, the boy returns home, where he can finally do what he wants.

Unrealistic and a bit flat, but I know what they were going for and it was unique.
Pretty slow and not much really happens. But the ending is the worst. After all that, they all just go back to normal.
Beyond realizing he needs his parents nothing really happens or is resolved. Wasted concept overall that feels pointless by the end.
Pretentious & apes Lanthimos, but as something that came on in a hotel &watched with no idea what it was, it was a fun throwback experience.
A statement on the failure of parenting and, here, how it put a seemingly normal upper-class family in a chilling predicament.
Maybe harsh but the characters were unsympathetic, direction felt torn btwn drama/thriller (w/o pulling off either) + awful payoff/climax
the boy is very detestable I'll give them that
A slow and gentle coming of age that has a story within a story.
AVOID. Don't let the synopsis fool you, it's a waste of your time. There is NO struggle for survival. I'd like to give this minus stars.
Had to research the movie afterwards to find out what it was I’d watched and the “meaning” is just as boring and empty as the movie itself.
