Big, overwrought drama, glorious in its black & white passion, it must be seen.
A great example of a Director using a genre film to make some trenchant political points on race and gender. Stunningly sad!
A classic film that I might not have watched if my mom didn't introduce it to me. A bit slow but well done. Tackles some heavy subjects.

Some of the racial elements are dated, but it is still a deeply emphatic look at race that few white creatives dared to make at the time
A classic that brings a racial discussion that, although being a little outdated now, is yet ahead of its time.
